Welcome to our match section
We run our matches from June through to March on Sundays. During the summer months we run a series of evening matches that take place in June and July. Our club matches are organised by Dave Mills who arranges the fixtures and is ably assisted by Terry Hazell on match days. Roger Westley represents the match section on the club committee. We fish our home matches on Gaywoods Pool, the matches are fished over 5 hours unless otherwise agreed, the evening matches are 3 hours. The weights on the evening matches can be very good, one of this year's matches that took place on the 30th July the total weight of the 17 anglers who took part was 575Lbs 8oz with the winner weighing in a total of 96Lbs 12oz, not bad for 3 hours.
We organise matches throughout the year against other clubs on a home and away basis, they are Luton & Leighton Buzzard, Phoenix and Met Vets. Additionally we have organised matches on many commercial fisheries such as Lake John, South End Farm, How End Fishery and Clavenhambury. All matches are pegged down, you pay your Pool money and draw your peg out of the bag - this is your peg. The draw takes place an hour before the start of the match at 9.30am and we finish at generally 2.30pm when the weigh in takes place at your peg. When you fish on our Gaywoods Pool the club supplies the keepnets, landing net and unhooking mats. Two keepnets are required, one for silver fish the other for carp, not more than 50Lb of fish is allowed in any one keepnet, spare nets are available if required. Some of the matches fished on the commercial fisheries supply their own nets i.e. Lake John, other commercial fisheries require you to bring your own nets, venue rules apply at all times. Please see the Our Rules section of our website.
At the end of the match the pool fund is paid to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and section winners, this may vary depending on the number of anglers participating in the match. You may also get your name in the Angling Times as the results are published in the matchman section of the paper, we also publish the results and commentary on our K.L.A.S Facebook pages.
So please join us, come along and wet a line you could be in the money, we aim to ensure you have an enjoyable match experience with some banter and all round fun along the way. If you are interested in taking part in our matches please contact Dave Mills.
We have club matches throughout the year, detail of the match dates are found here, further down this page you will find a diary detailing our matches. Please check out our Match Section, Facebook page or Club notice boards for confirmed match dates.
If you do come down to fish and there is a match in progress, please check with the match organizer if there is a vacant peg available.

Can we please remind all match anglers that following all matches on Gaywoods Pool your keepnets and landing nets should be hung up using the hangers provided in the drying cage starting from the rear to the front. It is unfair to expect Dave to put it right after every match.
